Countdown to 2018. A few hours left to bid goodbye to year 2017 and I’m so excited to welcome the New Year. This is my first year review and Lifeandash also marked a year in November. I wouldn’t say it was a bad year, I’ve had my share of good and bad moments. 2017 went by super fast.
January started very well with a hotel stay to celebrate my parents’ wedding anniversary at the 5-Star luxury resort, Heritage Awali. Plus I ticked off a few places that I wanted to visit in Mauritius this year namely Petrin, Blue Bay beach, explored the South of island, Casela World of Adventures, Trou aux Cerfs, Botanical Garden Curepipe and Club Med Pointe aux Cannoniers etc.
I discovered a myriad of good restaurants such as Zub Express (the best cheese naan and Paneer curry), Botteghita Italian Restaurant in Grand Bay (I don’t remember if I ever ate a better pizza than theirs), Le Sapin (good fried rice and Bol Renverser), Happy Rajah non-veg lunch thali with my favourite butter chicken, Ginger (prawn pancake) and Salade Tropicale chez Stephanie in Mont Choisy (grilled fish and fried rice) to name a few.
The best thing that happened to me this year is winning my everlasting battle against stress. You probably know now (I wrote quite a few posts about stress and mentioned this on Instagram) that lately my body couldn’t bear stress and I ended up with quite some health complications during the last three years. I needed to get out of this and find a way to have a laid back lifestyle. It happened eventually with a lot of efforts. Yoga sessions, meditation, devoting more time to my hobbies such as painting, photography and cooking made this possible. In addition blogging helped me tremendously during the journey, I name this blogging therapy. I also miraculously found Rhonda’s Byrne book ‘The Secret’ and since I’ve been a positive, strong and optimistic person. I am happy on my own, I can tackle my problems and deal with down moments.
Bought myself an iPhone 7 Plus and my dad gifted me a DSLR. I also did a room makeover (I’ll do a post on that later on).
One of my dreams to travel with my family came true this year. My parents, brother and I been on a two weeks’ trip to Asia. We visited Singapore, Malaysia and Bali. I’ve been to Sentosa, I ate dosa after more than a year, I saw Marina Bay Sands hotel, Singapore eye and Garden by Bay, I visited many temples and had my perfect Instagram picture of Bali swing, I’ve seen dolphins and Petronas twin towers, I went to Batu Caves, I did the Skyline Luge in Sentosa, I took pictures in front of the famous Universal studio sign and I ate good foods.
Some of my goals for 2018 are:
- Explore Mauritius, hike mountains and have lazy days at the beach
- Exercise and eat healthier
- Blog more and be regular at it!
- Spanish fluent by December 2018
- Plan everything and take little steps for that main goal set for 2019
- Be good at photography
- Maintain this no-stress lifestyle
I pen off here wishing you all a Happy New Year 2018. Thank you for so much love! Stay connected.
